About Ian B. Lawson, MD

Emphasizing quality of care, Dr. Ian B. Lawson performs orthopedic surgery on extremities such as the elbow, hand, and wrist. Ian B. Lawson, MD, previously led Mountain Orthopedic Specialists in Tacoma, Washington, for nine years. He also maintained privileges with local medical facilities such as Allenmore Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital.

Dr. Lawson currently serves as medical director in healthcare management focusing on orthopedic utilization management. He has experience teaching orthopedics through the University of Washington-affiliated Tacoma Family Medicine Program, for which he has also delivered lectures and served as resident preceptor.

Dr. Lawson’s background in medicine extends to the athletics realm. He was a physician with Ironman Canada in the mid-1990s. He subsequently served as team physician for professional baseball and hockey squads in Tacoma and applied his orthopedics knowledge to Washington Interscholastic Activities Association tournaments for many years.

An outdoors enthusiast, Ian B. Lawson, MD, enjoys mountain biking and skiing, as well as water activities such as boating, wakeboarding, and waterskiing.
